About the Waiheke Island Historical Society:

The Waiheke Island Historical Society have current projects including collecting and copying all their photographs in folders for reference. We also offer copies of these historical Waiheke photographs for sale. They have also been put onto a CD rom.

Visit the Waiheke Island Historic Village. The Historic Village is centred around the New Woolshed Museum, which houses the main displays, information desk and a small shop selling crafts, souvenirs and books of local history. There are also two restored 1930s cottages; one is presented as a typical Island dwelling of the time and the other has a photograph gallery and a static display area.

The exhibitions are the effort of a keen team of volunteers who have collected and interpreted objects to demonstrate certain aspects of life on Waiheke. Displays include Maori settlement of the area, timber felling and agriculture, domestic life, childhood and maritime history.

The Historic Village is open throughout the year on Monday, Wednesday, Saturday & Sunday from 12 - 4 pm.

Catch the Onetangi bus and ask for the Historic Village.

Entry by donation.
